Wellness in Motion: How Dr. Elizabeth Guarin offers a Personalized Approach to Healing in Coconut Grove

In South Miami, where active families fill the parks, pickleball courts stay busy, and wellness is part of daily life, access to highly specialized physical therapy can make all the difference when something feels off. Whether it’s postpartum recovery, sudden vertigo, or a neurological condition disrupting daily movement, the right care — delivered at the right time — is critical.

For many in the community, that care begins with Vivacore Physical Therapy, led by Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Guarin, PT, DPT, NCS.

With more than 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Guarin brings both deep expertise and genuine compassion to her practice. Born and raised in upstate New York’s Hudson Valley, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Loyola College in Maryland before completing her Master’s in Physical Therapy at CUNY Hunter College in 2006 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton in 2013. She is a Board-Certified Neurological Clinical Specialist through the American Physical Therapy Association and a Certified Vestibular Physical Therapist, with specialized training in pelvic floor rehabilitation.

Before moving to Miami in 2012, Dr. Guarin practiced for six years at Rusk Rehabilitation at NYU Langone Health in New York City. There, she worked across inpatient and outpatient settings, specializing in vestibular therapy as well as neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation. The experience shaped her clinical precision and reinforced a belief she still carries today:

“When someone loses confidence in their body — whether from dizziness, pain, or postpartum changes — it impacts every part of their life. My role is to help restore that confidence.”

After relocating to South Florida, Dr. Guarin recognized a significant gap in access to specialized pelvic health and vestibular rehabilitation. Too often, patients experiencing vertigo, dizziness, or pelvic floor dysfunction were left waiting weeks for referrals or told their symptoms were something they simply had to tolerate. Vivacore was founded to change that.

Her conveniently located practice near Dadeland is intentionally boutique — focused on one-on-one, personalized, compassionate care with an emphasis on the mind-body connection. Sessions are never rushed. Patients are treated as individuals, not appointments.

A key area of her work centers on supporting women through pregnancy and postpartum recovery. From birth preparation to rebuilding strength after delivery, Dr. Guarin helps women navigate the physical transitions of motherhood with confidence. New moms are welcome to bring their babies to sessions — a small but meaningful detail that reflects her understanding of this life stage.

“Pregnancy and postpartum are powerful transitions,” she says. “Women deserve support that honors both the physical and emotional changes happening in their bodies.”

Her specialization in vestibular rehabilitation allows her to treat conditions like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) quickly and effectively — often within days of symptom onset. Vertigo can arrive suddenly, bringing nausea, imbalance, and a complete disruption to work and social life. By providing timely treatment without prolonged delays, Dr. Guarin helps patients return to normalcy faster. “When someone walks in dizzy and leaves steady on their feet, it’s incredibly rewarding,” she shares. “You’re not just treating symptoms — you’re giving someone their life back.”

Today, Vivacore Physical Therapy continues to serve South Miami families seeking expert-level care delivered with warmth and intention. Outside the clinic, Dr. Guarin enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, cooking and baking, reading, listening to music, and staying active through pickleball, swimming, and running after her boys — a lifestyle that mirrors the vibrant community she serves.

In a neighborhood built on movement, Dr. Guarin is helping patients return to the activities that fulfill them — stronger, steadier, and more confident at their core.
