Coconut Grove Launches ‘PLAY THE GROVE,’ a FIFA World Cup-Inspired Interactive Art Experience for Kids

As Miami prepares to welcome the world for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Coconut Grove is creating a place where children and families can experience the excitement of the tournament through creativity, movement, and play.

From June 10 through July 10, CocoWalk Plaza is hosting PLAY THE GROVE, a free interactive art installation inspired by the energy and spirit of the world’s biggest soccer event. The activation transforms the plaza into an immersive environment where a deconstructed soccer pitch becomes a larger-than-life playscape for exploration and discovery.

Children are invited to climb, interact, and engage with sculptural elements inspired by the movement and geometry of the game, while parents and visitors can enjoy the experience at their own pace, lounging in the plaza, reading a book, sharing a pizza, enjoying sushi, or simply soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Coconut Grove.

Located at CocoWalk Plaza, PLAY THE GROVE offers a unique gathering space where art, play, and community come together during one of the most anticipated sporting events in the world. The installation provides an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to connect with the spirit of the World Cup beyond the stadium experience.

The project was designed by architects MIRTH Studio in collaboration with estudioLAAVA, whose work combines architecture, public art, and placemaking to create engaging experiences in the public realm.

As South Florida welcomes fans from around the globe, PLAY THE GROVE celebrates the universal language of soccer while highlighting Coconut Grove’s creative culture and family-friendly character.
